Have you found a way to migrate your vpuserinfo.nsf database to the new stand alone domain? I need to perform the same task soon for Sametime 8.5.1

Up to now, I am having the same result as you... seems that the Old sametime community is saved in every buddy list that contains vpuserinfo.nsf
